The existing bathroom had been renovated back in the ‘70s and included an 18” raised platform creating the feel of a recessed tub/shower. It was both awkward and dangerous and aesthetically unappealing. Our goal was to create a bathroom experience that was clean, grand, timeless and resolved; a place to enjoy. By removing the platform, we were able to re-establish a generous 9’ ceiling height, which we emphasized with the perimeter wall grazer detail. The cool statuary white marble finishes are balanced with the warm sapele mahogany storage elements. Centering and re-centering of the main elements are harmonized with care and further balanced with artwork and lighting. Yes, artwork in the bathroom is joyous and spirited.
